Arafat Shows The True Colors of the PLO Again Months and months have passed since we last saw Yasir Arafat. Instead, the PLO put forward - like the proverbial Chazzer fieslach - highly sophisticated faces, such as Professor Edward Said, Dr. Hanan Ashrawi (she is reported to have been ABC's Peter Jennings' girlfriend years ago, hence his anti-Israel bias), and others like them. The shifty-eyed, unshaven Arafat was strictly hidden behind these smoke screens. But suddenly he has popped up again: first, in plugs for Patrick Buchanan, who promotes Arafat as the future President of "Palestine" (how much did the PLO pay him for that free commercial? - in the Arab world, nothing happens without money changing hands), and second, in that mind-boggling telephone conversation between Arafat and his man in Paris, Souss, which was carried word-for-word worldwide by CNN: "The Jews at work! Damn their fathers! The dogs! Filth and dirt! Trash is always trash! Thanks to the rotten Jews with whom I will settle accounts in the future…Let them record this and play it on television." He tried, of course, as he always does, to wriggle out of this with his usual lies, but this time to no avail. CNN had proof that these were his words.

This comes nary a week after he forced his Christian-Palestine bride to convert to Islam before he would allow the Moslem marriage ceremony to be consummated. Not long ago, Arafat trumpeted all over the world how he is not against either Jews or Christians, and aims at a "secular state" in which all religions are equal. All that is now out the window: his hatred for Jews and disrespect for Christians have now been openly demonstrated. What are his earlier fans and promoters like Rita Hauser, Anthony Lewis, Michael Lerner, and Yossi Sarid going to say now? How can Bush-Baker expect Israel to accept anything the Palestinians now say, in good faith?
