Intifada Leader Sees Real Islam Only in Sudan

Dr. Abdul-Aziz Rantisi, a founder of the intifada and the Hamas movement, was recently interviewed by the Jerusalem Post. In the interview he stated categorically that 1: Hamas has, as its goal, a pan-Islamic State, i.e. one in which Christians and Jews are at best tolerated as pariahs, and 2. Of all the countries of the Arab world, true Islam is only found in the Sudan.

The latter statement is extremely significant because of the cruel persecution of Christians which the Sudan has been conducting for many years. After massacring some 1 million black Christians, the Sudanese Moslem Government has now, according to the New York Times, deported some 400,000 black Christians into the desert to die of hunger and thirst - unless they convert to Islam. (The Christian world, besides Washington and the UN, has reacted to this atrocity with stony silence!) Yasir Arafat was recently the honored guest of that barbaric government and the PLO has "training camps" in the Sudan.

The points made in the interview put to rest once and for all the often repeated deception that the PLO aims for a "secular state" where all religions are equal. Some equality! This should open the eyes of Christian Arabs to the common danger they share with the Jews.

Egyptian Moslems Kill Dozens of Christians

The press has reported a serious backslide into the traditional discrimination against the 6 million Christians who live in Egypt. Last week, dozens of Christians were killed in gunfire attacks in Upper Egypt. Although such assaults have occurred many times before, the newest clashes were unusual, according to the world press, in that the Christians fought back fiercely. The New York Times reported how the Moslems attacked the Christians with rifles, pistols, and knives. A Christian was quoted as saying: "The Moslems were like mad dogs, running and shooting. The Moslem militants do what they want and the Government does nothing to stop them."

Algeria Hangs 12 Fundamentalists

When the Fundamentalists won in a recent Parliamentary election, the Algerian Government simply cancelled the results of the election! According to the New York Times some 30,000 followers of the banned party are now in detention under "harsh conditions." Newspaper men reporting on these developments were promptly arrested and deported. In intifada-like clashes, at least 31 Algerian soldiers and over 70 Fundamentalists have been killed. Twelve militants were sentenced by a military court to hang. Yet we hear no reaction from such human rights organizations as "Amnesty International!"
